‘SHIRES OAK BUILDINGS LTD’
In summer 2018, Shires Oak Buildings Ltd erected a large oak framed orangery with help from lifting solutions specialists The Frog Squad. The site had restricted access so the team enlisted the help of their tracked Bӧcker crane capable of lifting up to 36 metres.
Rob Baldwin from Shires Oak Buildings Ltd said “At 2.2 metres wide, the aluminium crawler crane lends itself to these types of jobs as it’s small, agile and can be manoeuvred into place easily.”
“The main advantage of using the aluminium crane is that it gives us the flexibility to build trusses up from the floor to lift into place, or use the rigs to lift into place on site.”
Rob explained that if they had to hire a twenty-tonne machine it would’ve added a significant cost to the build.
“Because the aluminium crane is lightweight and has a low ground bearing pressure it minimises any chance of damage to the customer’s driveway,” he said.
“Overall, The Frog Squad staff were really helpful and easy to work with and I’d highly recommend using the aluminium crawler crane for this type of construction,” added Rob.
